At Café Blaze, we believe every young adult deserves a place to belong, to be seen, and to discover the fire God placed within them. We’re more than a gathering space—we’re a creative discipleship community dedicated to helping homeless, aged-out, and unsupported youth cultivate deep faith, bold purpose, and meaningful connection.
Our mission is rooted in transformation. Through art, mentorship, spiritual growth, and shared life, Café Blaze becomes a safe haven where stories are honored, gifts are awakened, and hope is rebuilt. Whether through painting, music, poetry, or hands-on projects, creativity becomes a bridge—opening doors to healing, expression, and possibility.
But we don’t stop there. Guided by compassionate leaders and mentors, young adults receive personalized discipleship, life-skills support, and emotional encouragement. We walk together through real struggles, celebrate real victories, and build the kind of authentic community that many have never experienced before.
This blog is where we’ll share stories of growth, highlight creative work from our community, announce upcoming gatherings, and offer encouragement to anyone walking their own journey of faith and identity.
If you’re searching for hope, for family, or for a spark to ignite your purpose—welcome. There is a seat for you here.
Café Blaze: Where hope ignites and deep faith meets bold creativity, and every story matters.
Good question.
The truth is—God does not cause people to suffer. In fact, it is quite the opposite. There are four reasons why people suffer:
1. Sin
2. Satan
3. Choices
4. Life
Sin
What is sin? When a person plays darts and misses the mark, they cry out “sin!” In our life, sin is more than missing the mark. From God’s perspective, when you sin, it means that you have done or said something that violates His word, as shared in the bible. Doing something that is wrong or sinful brings consequences. This is a universal and spiritual law. It is also known as cause and effect. When you were a kid, did you ever touch a hot stove? What happened? You burned your hand. That is a consequence of touching a hot stove.
What is the natural consequence for a guy stealing an ATM machine? He goes to jail. Stealing is against the law. Laws protect property. If you ignore a spiritual or natural law, there are consequences. And these consequences cause people to suffer. The guy who goes to jail, for example, may get a lengthy sentence. His family may experience shame and financial pressure. And his children may feel abandoned. Their suffering is a consequence of his actions.
Satan
Is Satan real? Yes. Who is he? Satan, formerly known as Lucifer, was once “a highly intelligent, and beautiful angelic being.” Lifted in pride, he rebelled against God. Instead of worshipping God, he desired worship. He still does. More importantly, Satan hates God’s creation. His mission is to steal from, kill, and destroy mankind.
The name “Satan” means deceiver. Because he desires for worship and to destroy mankind, Satan deceives or tricks people. He lures people into making sinful decisions—pre-marital sex, lying, stealing, assault. He also tricks them into harmful relationships. It is a set up. How does he do this? Satan infiltrates people’s thoughts. Yes, he breaks into your thought life. One harmful thought, repeated often, causes massive damage. Satan does everything he can to make people suffer.
Choices
Making a wrong choice can bring suffering—whether you make the choice or someone else makes a choice that affects you. Examples include an aunt who meets a guy online, unaware he is a predator. Or a friend that responds to a job posting that leads to trafficking. Or clicking on an email link that steals your savings.
Wouldn’t it be great if someone warned you in advance? Well, God does warn you. But He will never override your will. What does that mean? It means that God will give you an “inner warning,” but you have the right to choose what you want to do about it. If you choose unwisely, or miss the warning(s) altogether, the consequences can lead to suffering.
Life
Life is unpredictable. If you knew what was going to happen, you could at least prepare. However, some events are unpredictable, yet a part of life. When a loved one dies, we may suffer in grief. When we miss an opportunity for an excellent job, we may suffer financially. When a sudden illness erupts, you may suffer pain.
Thankfully, life offers more than suffering. In Ecclesiastes 3, King Solomon said, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: . . .” including suffering. Yes, there is a time for sadness but there is also a time for joy. There are disappointments but also times of opportunity. Life is like the economy; there are downs and there are guaranteed ups.
Ways to Overcome Suffering
One important way to avoid prolonged suffering is to have the right perspective. If you think God causes suffering, you will feel hopeless. But when you know how He truly sees you, you can find hope even in challenging situations. Read on.
This is what God says about you:
In John 10:10, Jesus said,
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” Amplified version
God spoke these words through the prophet Jeremiah,
“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 Amplified version
Does this sound like a Father who wants to see you suffer? Of course not! 😊
In fact, God can teach you how to avoid sin, uncover Satan’s plans, and make wise decisions. He will also walk with you through life’s curve balls. Ready to learn more?

Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart? He wants to.
When you ask Jesus to come into your heart, you are doing five things:
You are acknowledging that he is the Son of God
You believe that Jesus died in your place as payment for your sins
You believe that through faith in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, you can be "saved" from your sins and eternal death
You believe that to accept Jesus into your heart you will live forever with God when your earthly life is over
You believe that as a new "believer" Jesus will walk with, guide, comfort and befriend you
The bible says in the book of Romans (chapter) 10: (verse) 9 " that (A)if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
Jesus did the hard part by dying on the cross in your place.
Your part is accepting God's gift of eternal life through the work of the cross.
Will you allow God to show you a better way to live? Will you receive the gift of eternal life?
If you're ready to give your life to Jesus, or return to Him if you strayed away, pray this with all your heart:
Heavenly Father,
I come to You today just as I am. I acknowledge that I’ve sinned, and I need Your forgiveness. Please forgive me for my sins. I’ve tried to do life my own way, but today, I turn to You.
I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died on the cross for my sins and rose again so I could have new life.
Lord Jesus, I invite You into my heart. Be my Savior. Be my Lord. Wash me clean. Make me whole. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead me every day of my life.
Today, I choose to follow You. I surrender my past, my pain, my plans, and my future into Your hands.
Thank You for loving me. Thank You for saving me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
That's it!
